Jean Luc Jamet Cotes du Rhone L'Enclave (Syrah) 2018
Jean-Luc Jamet worked for many years alongside his brother Jean-Paul, at the iconic family estate, Domaine Jamet. In 2013 the brothers split the 16 hectare estate evenly, into two 8 hectare properties. This is an unusual wine as, due to a quirk in French appellation laws, it is possible to bottle a Cotes du Rhone entirely from syrah, rather than the more common grenache/syrah/mourvedre blend, which a select few northern Rhone producers have chosen to do. This is a very fine example, with ripe black fruit, peppercorns and granite aplenty - essentially a young vine, declassified Cote Rotie.
