Clusel Roch Traboules 2017/2018 Coteaux Lyonnais
The obscure appellation of Coteaux Lyonnais is making a name for itself with the gamay grape, better known in Beaujolais, which here produces a sappy, digestible wine with irresistable, vibrant fruit cut by a lovely line of freshness and peppery spice. Perhaps it's the auto-suggestion of the Clusel Roch connection, a family famous for their Cote Rotie, but this does have a distinct 'Beaujolais meets northern Rhone' vibe that combines the quaffable qualities of one with the aromatic spice of the other. Beyond perfect with a bit of rare duck breast, or maybe some spring lamb.
