Ramonet St Aubin Blanc 1er Cru Murgers des Dents de Chien 2018
Arriving in Chassagne-Montrachet in the late 1920s, Pierre Ramonet gambled successfully on buying up hallowed plots of land around the hill of Montrachet.
The Premier Cru Murgers des Dents de Chien means "walls of dogs' teeth", and refers to the many jagged walls that dot the landscape here, often demarcating vineyards. With a similar pebbly limestone soil to Le Montrachet below but cooler temperatures because of the extra altitude, the style of wine here is more delicate than Puligny Montrachet with fine aroma and pronounced minerality.
Aromas of pears, dried flowers and pastry cream, framed by a touch of light reduction that always seems to mark this cuvee chez Ramonet. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, tangy and pure, with a vibrant core of fruit, bright structuring acids and a long, pure finish.
