Porta Rossa Bricco Ambrogio 1995 Roddi Barolo
Tucked up in the far north-east in the Roddi subzone of the Barolo DOCG, the small cru Bricco Ambrogio was first brought to recognition by Paolo Scavino who recognised its ideal southern exposure for ripening nebbiolo. This version is resolutely traditional and fully mature, offering an enticing mix of blood and iron, dried tomato and leather. Not a heavyweight, this is just downright classic with a lovely bite of iron filing tannins to finish.
