Clos St Jean Gamay 2019 Cotes Roannaise
Occasionally you come across those wines that are just so French it makes you smile. This classic little bistro number could be from nowhere else, with its rustic nose of puy lentils, curranty fruit and white peppercorn aromatics, which segue into a palate that shows light tannin and more overt bramble fruit. A pleasingly unpretentious red that would make a lovely match for roast duck legs, cassoulet or steak frites. Light up a Gauloises, put on some Edith Piaf, and you're sorted.
