Marchesi di Gresy Martinenga 2017 Barbaresco
This 11 hectare monopole is the largest single vineyard in the Langhe for nebbiolo, entirely in the hands of Jeff Chilcott at Marchesi di Gresy. Located between the triangle of Riosordo, Asili and Rabaja crus, the Martinenga vineyard has been in the hands of this family for over 200 years. The wine is, unsurprisingly, fairly aristrocatic. Aged entirely in large, neutral botti it is crisp and fine, with a perfume of rose petals seguing into a palate of blonde tobacco, dried strawberry and fresh leather.
