Pheasant's Tears Chkaveri 2021 Imereti

White pepper, baked strawberry and spiced plum come across clearly on the nose of this light and tangy Georgian red. From vineyards planted on the coast of the Black Sea, this is literally a long way from Khaketi, being altogether lighter and crisper. Bottled without additional sulfites, this feels like a Georgian riff on nebbiolo or xinomavro thanks to some fine tannins keeping everything in shape.
