Pheasant's Tears' vineyards dot the Kiziqi corner of the eastern Kakheti region in Georgia: simply envision vines overlooking ancient villages (some dating back at least 1,400 years, if not more) with stone buildings and terracotta roofs, rolling valleys, and the snowy Caucasus mountain peaks.
Here, the grape-growers and the wine-makers employ traditional techniques, including to use qvevri, and thus striving to as directly as possible connect history, culture, and the unique terroir to the grapes, to the wine, and to you.
This Goruli Mtsvane (aka the Green of Gori) spends at least six months on the skins in qvevri, giving it a bit of texture and resulting in a delightful journey: opening up with notes of kombu kelp, the wine evolves into melon skin and stone fruit dusted with fresh citrus zest, and then gingerbread and honey.
