Irrewarra Pinot Noir 2020 Geelong Victoria
From a single, three hectare, dry-grown vineyard planted on clay soils in 2001, right at the top of a slope near the town of Irrewarra ('spear throw') western Victoria, Nick Farr (son of Geelong legend Gary Farr) has struck out here with a different style of cool climate pinot noir. Fully destemmed, fermented with wild yeasts and aged in old and new Allier oak for 18 months, this has abundant strawberry fruit, a wonderful aromatic spiciness reminiscent of vetiver and red cedarwood and a zesty, vibrant palate. The 2018 harvest is the first vintage of this exciting project.
