Riccitelli Cabernet Franc 2018 Valle de Uco
The pioneering Mathias Riccitelli has been at the forefront of a brighter, less heavy style of Argentine malbec and here he turns his attention to cabernet franc - an underrated grape in Argentina. This is from the Los Chacayes subregion in Valle de Uco, and is fermented in concrete with wild yeasts before a year of ageing in oak, including a small proportion of new oak. The result is a wine of controlled sumptuousness with vibrant, unforced blackberry fruit, lightly grainy tannins, a flourish of violets and a lightly sandy texture that finishes on a note of delicate cedar.
