Marcio Lopes Pequenos Rebentos Atlantico 2020 Minho

One of the names to conjure with in the Minho is that of Anselmo Mendes, and Marcio Lopes spent two years working with him before striking out on his own in 2010. The soils in this cool, verdant, northern part of Portugal are mostly granitic and the resulting red wines are light-bodied and low in alcohol and tannin - ideal for chilling down and drinking without food if you wish. Made with natural yeasts, this is sappy, moreish and fresh, and a world away from the tart, inky style of traditional red Vinho Verde.
