Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2017 Eden Valley Barossa
One of Australia's greatest producers, the Henschke family has been making wine for more than 150 years and is home of the world-renowned Hill of Grace. Now known as Euphonium and styled more strongly as a multi-grape blend, this started out first as a shiraz, then a shiraz-cabernet, before the Bordeaux grapes made their appearance in the orchestra. This vintage is in fine form, with beautifully deep, ripe tannins on the palate that give the impression of velvet, allied to maturing - but by no means fully mature - fruit. Blackcurrant, damson, plum and dried blackberry all make an appearance, along with some gorgeous spice from the oak and a deep, smoky tea leaf note on the finish with just a touch of herbal nuance.
