Cabutto Tenuta La Volta Barolo 2015
Great value, classically styled Barolo from a variety of prime vineyard parcels. The Tenuta La Volta estate has been owned by the Cabutto family since 1920, and despite being hailed by Nicholas Belfrage MW as a 'pillar of traditional' Barolo, the wines are inexplicably under the radar. With long macerations, zero temperature control and five years maturation in large Slovonian botte, these wines represent a smart buy for lovers of muscular nebbiolo that is aged in a thoroughly traditional style. Here at Cabutto they have not yet succumbed to the mania for single vineyard bottlings in the region, with almost all the fruit from the top sites going into the estate Barolo. All in all, a relative bargain.
