Ian Naude Old Vine Grenache 2019 Paarl
We haven't had this wine on our shelves since the 2014 vintage as Ian lost access to the vineyard, regaining it only in 2019. Made from Paardeberg fruit, this grenache bears comparison with the best of the Southern Rhone. Indeed, the 2014 beat the legendary Chateau Rayas in a blind tasting known affectionately as The Judgement of Chiswick. Incredibly perfumed with dried red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, this is tantalisingly delicate, elegant and moreish with lavender, fynbos and a hint of pepper giving incredible complexity.
