Senorio de Pecina Finca Iscorta Gran Reserva 2010 Rioja

Set up in 1992 by Pecina Crespo, formerly the head viticulturalist at La Rioja Alta, this estate is based in the higher altitude Alavesa subzone on high-limestone sonsierra soils, which makes more aromatic, nuanced wines. Aged far longer than DOC requirements in 100% old American oak, this is a classic Rioja Gran Reserva at full maturity. This is a superb traditional Rioja where the oak lifts and enhances the maturing fruit rather than dominating it.
