El Porvenir 2015 Salta Argentina
El Porvenir de Cafayate's inception in 2000 by Luc’a Romero-Marcuzzi, was a bold move by her and her family to showcase the best terroirs that Cafayate has to offer, rescuing old vineyards of Tannat and Torrontes.
Their top wine, this red blend is produced each year from the estate's best-performing parcels and the 2015 includes malbec, cabernet sauvignon, tannat and syrah. It spent 18 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels as well as 2 years resting in bottle before release.
Aromatically intense with blackberry, plum, cassis, and dried fig as well as cracked black pepper and spices.
The oak works in tandem offering vanilla, tobacco and smoke. Good acidity and ripe, almost sweet, tannins mean you could let this develop extra layers with up to 10 years further ageing.
