Castello di Verduno Pelaverga 2018 Bassadone
With good claim to being the rarest and most esoteric of Piedmont's red grapes, pelaverga is grown only in the northerly commune of Verduno by a small number of estates. Related to nebbiolo, it is almost like nature has gifted us a less tannic, less acidic, more charming version of the great Barolo grape, most suitable for drinking while the big beasts continue to mature in the cellar.
