Nikka Taketsuru Malt 2020 Release/White Label 43% Japan
A new expression for 2020 that changes the style of Taketsuru Pure Malt substantially, this is based on roughly 60% Miyagikyo malt, which is smooth and mellow, with 40% of Yoichi malt, with a more rustic and smokey flavour, in a much higher proportion than in the old, black label Taketsuru. The result is a very different malt, less focussed on smooth sherry flavours and more assertively spicy, with lightly medicinal peat and brighter, citrus-led aromatics. Equally delicious, but noticeably different.
