Zagreus Noble Mavrud 2020 Thracian Lowlands

Zagreus vineyards were first planted in 1998 in the fertile Plovdiv plain, within the lowlands of Thrace, one of Bulgarias best regions for grape growing. Certified organic since 2013, owner Dimitar Kostadinovs mission is to produce excellent examples of characterful local Bulgarian varietal mavrud as well as high-quality cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah. For a long time we've been a big fan of Bulgaria's high quality grape variety Mavrud. When offered this sweet dessert style Mavrud we jumped at the opportunity! Concentrated and powerful on the nose, seduction by dark fruit, earth and herbs doesn't take long. Sweet, velvety, and with firm tannins this is a treat and a half!
