St Verny Syrah 45.3 Lost Vineyard 2020 Auvergne
La Cave Saint-Verny is the sole co-operative in the Puy-de-Dome departement in central France's Auvergne area, and was founded in 1950. They buy grapes annually from 115 small growers, most of which consists of the permitted varieties gamay and pinot noir.
A lesser spotted syrah from the Auvergne, the grape grows wonderfully in volcanic soils but this is one of precious few examples from this region. Harnessing the silky tannins of syrah masterfully this brings figs, currants and cherries which are carried off gently by the grape's characteristic cured meat notes.
