Chateau Dutruch Grand Poujeaux 2014 Moulis en Medoc
It feels like a lifetime ago that we were sitting in the kitchen of the chateau, having lunch with Jean Baptiste Cordonnier and his wife. We lost the trail of this delicious Bordeaux during the troubled 2013 vintage, so it's a special pleasure to see it return to the fold with the lovely 2014. Located in the far east of the Moulis appellation, 80% of the vines are planted on the deep gravel soils of the Grand Poujeaux plateau, recognized as the best terroir in Moulis.Chateau Dutruch Grand Poujeaux is produced with grapes from the estate's older vines and is aged for 12 months in barrels, one third of which are new. It is a beautifully balanced blend of 51% merlot, 43% cabernet sauvignon, 3% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc, yielding a classic left bank claret with structure, spice and fruit. Pure pleasure.
