Zagreus Handmade Mavrud Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Zagreus vineyards were first planted in 1998 in the fertile Plovdiv plain, within the lowlands of Thrace, one of Bulgaria's best regions for grape growing. Certified organic since 2013, owner Dimitar Kostadinov's mission is to produce excellent examples of characterful local Bulgarian varietal mavrud as well as high-quality cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah. A good introduction to the more structured styles of Zagreus. This a blend of mavrud and cabernet sauvignon made in a lower intervention style, unfiltered and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Expect dark plum, black pepper, cedar and liquorice in a smooth, rich and textured wine.
