Tetramythos Black of Kalavryta 2021/2022 Peloponnese
Tetramythos is situated near Ano Diakopto overlooking the Gulf of Corinth in northern Peloponnese. Cultivation of grapes here dates back to at least 150 AD, with glowing contemporary accounts. The beautifully wild vines are planted in a variety of true cool climate vineyards on the slopes of Mount Aroania, where breezes from the gulf of Corinth help produce fresh and balanced grapes.
The winery is owned by the spectacularly named trio of Aristides and Stathis Spanos, who are brothers, and the highly talented winemaker Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos, regarded as one of Greece's most talented natural winemakers.
Black of Kalavryta is an extraordinarily rare grape, but more importantly has real character and flavour reminiscent of pinot noir. Cherries, violets, a touch of spice and breezy minerality.
