Originally from Ukraine, Anna Zahorodnya relocated to Barcelona with her parents when she was a teenager. She trained as a sommelier and met her future partner Raimon Col while honing her craft in the buzzy Barcelona culinary scene. Restoring winemaking equipment from his family, and buying in fruit, they set out in 2002 to follow a shared vision for making fine, long-aged sparkling wines and intense reserva style still wines from organically cultivated grapes. This spectacular sparkling wine made from Xarel-lo grapes, aged for 7 months in French oak prior to its second fermentation and further 8 years aging in the bottle is exactly how vintage cava should taste - apple compote, toasty spice and a delicious note of savoury cream. Indulgent but refreshingly dry and zingy.
