Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2019 Kent
The Gusbourne Brut 2018 was harvested in October and is a blend of 46% pinot meunier, 35% chardonnay and 19% pinot noir, matured mainly in stainless steel with a little old oak barrel fermentation for complexity. Aged for at least two years on the lees, the fruit comes from vineyards on a south-facing escarpment in Appledore, Kent and near Goodwood in West Sussex. The Kentish soils are largely clay-based, while the Sussex soils are predominantly chalk and flint, giving an appealing combination of richness and raciness in the wine. There is fabulous delicacy and subtlety here with notes of Rich Tea biscuit and lemon sherbert alongside a vibrant, refreshing structure and a carefully considered dosage of 9g to balance out the naturally brisk acidity of the style.
