Marco Marengo Brunate Vecchie Vigne Riserva 2011 Barolo
The Marengo estate totals just 6 hectares, but with enviable holdings in Brunate and other crus in La Morra. One of the top vineyards of Barolo, Brunate is situated high up in the La Morra commune, and gives wines of considerable power. A touch more new oak (40%) is used for this than Marco's non-Riserva Brunate, but this old vine nebbiolo fruit soaks it up with aplomb. Dusty red cherry, leather, dried flowers, cedar and rustic chewy tannins with a complex earthiness.
