Prosecco to Puglia: Italy's Adriatic Coast

From the Venetian lagoon to the sunbaked Puglian peninsula, the east coast of Italy is an unspoilt treasure house far from the madding crowds of Tuscany and Rome. Washed by the crystalline Adriatic, the length of the coast is famous for its bountiful seafood and delicious wines. Starting in the north with the frothy, care-banishing Prosecco that has always been a favourite in the bars of Venice and has now taken the world by storm, we press South to Marche for the local Verdicchio of Jesi. Finally we arrive at the heel of the boot of Italy, Puglia, dotted with Norman castles and making powerful, full-bodied red wines, for a hearty Primitivo.
