Akriotou Savatiano Orivatis Wild 2020 Greece

A new winery started as recently at 2015, Akriotou nonetheless has access to some 60-70 year old savatiano vines that are used to make this exceptional white. It is named Orivatis, which means 'mountaineer' due to the steep, high altitude nature of the vineyards, located in Sterea Ellada, northwest of Athens. Unfiltered, wild yeast fermented and made in stainless steel, this uses an element of whole bunches and two days skin contact to build depth of flavour. A rich nose of Golden Delicious apples, gala honey and warm spices lead into a refreshing palate with a note of ginger. A delicious surprise.
