The oldest of the so-called New World wine producing countries, the Cape wine lands have had a reputation since the establishment of wine estates in Constantia in 1685. No country can boast a more dynamic, creative and iconoclastic wine scene than South Africa. Following democratic elections in 1994, quality has been on an almost exponential rise and the Cape's wine are both consistently delicious and extremely well priced in an international context.
