Villa Guelpa Sizzano 2020 Alto Piemonte

One of four producers in Sizzano, Daniele has 16 hectares of vineyards in this little-known Alto Piemonte appellation. This is a blend of 85% nebbiolo and 15% vespolina from 25-60 year old vines, with the vespolina giving a smoky, peppery note to the classic dusty red fruit of nebbiolo. Vinified in concrete and aged in old Slavonian botti grande for up to a year before release, it's a seriously impressive bottle of wine.
