Vieux College Marsannay Blanc Les Vignes Marie 2021 Burgundy
Situated at the northernmost end of the Cote de Nuits, Marsannay doesn't have any premier or grand cru vineyards but that may change in the future thanks to the sterling work of the region's producers, who have shown the potential to make world-class wines with true Burgundian finesse. Eric Guyard of Vieux College makes this from a single plot of Chardonnay vines planted on limestone. Less powerful and full-bodied than the famous wines of Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, this nonetheless displays delicate apple and pear fruit with a rounded palate shot through with freshness and gentle notes of toast on the finish. Perfect for some grilled sole.
