Pommard has been known for a more robust, earthy, gutsy kind of burgundy but it has been getting more refined and balanced over the last decade. Here we have meaty, spicy, crispy bacon and black pepper aromatics and a well-judged amount of new oak to add sweet spice and depth. A dramatic, arresting wine with plenty to say from an estate to watch.
