Niepoort Lagar de Baixo Baga 2020/2021 Bairrada

Baga is an historic Portuguese variety that has recently been enjoying a rise in popularity. It is blessed with mouthwatering acidity, chewy tannins and poised with intense cherry fruit. Dirk Niepoort's passion for this grape led him to look for small parcels old vine parcels of Baga scattered in the Cantanhede region, culminating with the acquisition of the Quinta de Baixo estate in 2012. The Lagar de Baixo cuvee is a taut and elegant approach of this variety, which is equally light in colour and alcohol content. On the nose, beautiful perfumed aromas of red cherry fruit, freshly picked strawberry, bergamot and tangerine peel come to mind. On the palate the soft red fruit is lifted by fresh nectarine, earth and herbal notes. Encore!
