Vallarom Chardonnay 2020 Trentino
Tour Sieujean are one of the few family owned estates left in the Pauillac classification - most of the space is owned by the hyper-expensive premier crus. This is deep, serious stuff from a lauded vintage - smoky blackcurrants, hints of vanilla and eucalyptus, and insistent tannic structure.
They have recently sold 1ha of their estate to Chateau Latour, which does make you think that, if their terroir is good enough for this titanic first growth, it must be very special indeed. And presumably they didn't sell their best land!
