The historic property of Chateau des Rontets is surrounded by its own organically cultivated vineyards. The quality is impeccable across the range, defining a high point in this southern Burgundy appellation, and we consider these wines to have the quality level of much more expensive Meursault or Puligny-Montrachet. The Clos, or walled vineyard, of Varambon surrounds the chateau, and this cuvee has a gorgeous aroma of biscuitty orchard fruit, a touch of peach, with a moreish chalky finale and no excessive oakiness. Rich and mouth-filling, it is also refined and delicate.
