Picotes Palhete 2023 Tras Os Montes

Palhete is a traditional term for a field blend of red and white grapes. In this instance from very old vines growing on schist soils next to the Spanish border. 15% white grapes bring a fascinating floral lightness to this delicate, fleeting, perfumed red with whispers of tea and watermelon, mulberrry and sour cherry. Sappy, long and intriguing, with very fine acidity, this would be delicious with spicy food or as a foil to earthy flavours like duck.
