Alvear 3 Miradas Vino de Pueblo 2021 Montilla-Moriles Andalucia
Just sitting inland from the resort town of Malaga, lies the little known Spanish DOP, Montilla Moriles, known mainly for its sweet and fortified wines, often made in the same fashion as the wines of nearby Jerez (sherry)
Here in Montilla Moriles is where we find the Alvaer winery (that can trace itself back to 1729 and claims to be the oldest in Andalusia) who make this rather lovely wine from 100% Pedro Ximenez grapes and aged for 8 months under a layer of flor, (the same yeast layer that sits on top of wine in fino and manzanilla sherry barrels, and gives them their distinct aromas and flavours)
A dry and brisk wine full of sourdough, windfall apple, chamomile and citrus.
Fantastic with anything salty and perfect as an aperitif
