Niepoort Late Bottled Vintage/LBV Port 2018/2019 Douro

The port business is where Niepoort started, and it remains the jewel in the crown of this pioneering Douro estate. The LBV is a 'true' LBV, which is to say not a trumped up Ruby, but a port made in the style of the great vintage ports of the region, but with a little less time in bottle and a little more time in cask to make it approachable for early drinking. Unfined and unfiltered, just like a vintage port, this can be aged for decades and will throw a sediment in time. For current drinking, expect velvet tannins and plush black fruit, accented by darjeeling tea leaves, bergamot, and the indescribable but unmistakeable spiciness of the Douro.
