Vinya Vella Old Bush Vine Grenache 2022 Barossa Valley South Australia

Vinya Vella means "old vineyard" in Catalan which is fitting as this wine is made from 6 hectares of Grenache vines in the Barossa Valley, some of which are over a hundred years old. Such vines bring complexity and concentration to a wine and this example is no exception. There's a silky red fruit note which is unmistakably Grenache along with lifted herbaceous and floral tones - like gorging on strawberries whilst ambling through an English country garden, but more boozy. With its bright aromatics this is a touch lighter than the bulkier wines made from Grenache in Catalan and the southern Rhone but it still packs a punch from deliciously ripe fruit.
