Soumah Nebbiolo Yarra Valley 2021 Victoria

Very little of this wine is produced, as the Nebbiolo vineyard was originally planted as an experimental project by the winemaker who has an infatuation with the wines from Northern Italy, Soumah is more famous for it's Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. However this is absolutely delicious, and has been a real success! The wine is lovingly made, from hand picked grapes to 24 months in seasoned large puncheons (500l barrels), as they would in Piemonte. It has an attractive pale crimson colour, with a beautiful bouquet of roses, violets and cherries. There is a brooding undertone of tobacco and spicy leathery notes, making this a rather serious wine. Would be great with a slow cooked beef shin ragu.
