Travel east from glitzy Napa and you'll come to newly-fashionable Lodi. Once the source of cheap jug wine, these old zinfandel vines escaped the fashion for replanting with cabernet sauvignon and have come out the other side all the better for it. This is cracking value, with baked plum, dried fig, nori and a lovely balance of fruitcake richness and mature sweet spice.
